Hotel prices per night
The hotel is the biggest part of the budget. Most resorts price per person and include breakfast and dinner (half board), so lunch and drinks are the only daily food costs.

| 3-star cheapest: Tarisa Resort & Spa | ₹7,826 | ₹10,750 | 5 |

Flights from India

- Typical fare: about ₹40,000 to ₹65,000 return per person in economy. Diwali, Christmas, New Year and the May-June school holidays cost more.
- Book early: 2 to 3 months ahead gives the best choice of fares and hotels.
- From the south: see our guide to flights from Chennai to Mauritius.
Other costs to plan for
- Visa: free. Indian passport holders get a visitor permit on arrival. Carry your return ticket and hotel booking. Details in our visa guide.
- Tourist fee: €3 per person per night for guests aged 12 and over, paid at the hotel. For 2 adults over 5 nights that is €30.

June to September is the Mauritian winter: dry, sunny and 20 to 26°C, which suits many Indian travellers and lines up with the Indian summer holidays. Christmas and New Year are the most expensive week of all (see our Christmas and New Year guide). More on the weather month by month in best time to visit Mauritius.
How to save money
- Travel in June to September, and avoid Diwali, Christmas and New Year if your dates are flexible.
- Choose half board instead of breakfast only: eating every dinner out costs more than the supplement.
- Ask about honeymoon offers: many resorts give honeymooners a discount or free extras.
- Book a package: a hotel plus transfers and trips together is usually cheaper than booking each part.
- Pick shared trips: a shared catamaran costs a fraction of a private boat.
Ready-made packages
- Honeymoon package: romantic resorts, transfers, Ile aux Cerfs catamaran and a sunset cruise
- Couple package: anniversaries and couple trips
- Family package: family resorts, catamaran day and Casela Nature Parks
- Group package: friends and family groups
