The Bel Ombre nature reserve
Behind the coast, the Frederica nature reserve covers forest, hills and waterfalls. It can be explored on foot, by quad or buggy, by 4×4 or on horseback, and guides explain the native plants and the conservation work under way.
Sugar heritage
Bel Ombre was once a large sugar estate. The restored Château de Bel Ombre, a colonial mansion surrounded by gardens, is now a restaurant and a reminder of the area’s history.
