If your idea of a holiday includes a racing heart, Mauritius has plenty to offer. The island combines mountains, canyons, forests and a warm sea, so you can fly on a zipline in the morning and kitesurf in the afternoon. Here are the best ways to get your adrenaline fix.
On land
- Ziplines: fly over valleys and forest. Parks such as Casela offer courses. See Casela.
- Quad biking and 4×4: guided rides across fields, hills and tracks, often with views of the coast.
- Canyoning: abseil, slide and jump through river gorges, usually with a guide.
- Hiking and climbing: see our hiking guide.
On water
- Kitesurfing and surfing: see our water sports guide.
- Diving: try a diving course.
- Big game fishing: read about deep sea fishing.
In the air
Helicopter flights, seaplane trips and tandem skydiving give you a different view of the island. See our guide to air activities.

Best season
Land activities are most comfortable from May to November, when it is cooler and drier. Kitesurfing is best during the windy months of the winter trade winds, from around May to October. Skydiving and flights need clear skies, so keep a spare day in your plans in case of weather.
