The Legal Process

Civil marriages in Mauritius are legally recognised internationally. The basic requirements are valid passports, birth certificates, and — if previously married — a divorce decree. Both parties must be on the island for at least 24 hours before the ceremony. The hotel coordinator handles all local paperwork.

Best Time for a Wedding on the West Coast

May through November is the dry season and the most popular period. The west coast is sunnier than the east during this time and the evenings are warm without being oppressive. Summer sunset ceremonies on the west coast can be spectacular — the sun drops directly into the Indian Ocean.
